The Jeep Compass earned an overall rating of "Good" from the Insurance Institution of Highway Safety. The Ford Escape only earned an "Acceptable," which might not inspire much confidence on the road! The Jeep Compass is also equipped with standard Active Head Restraints to help prevent whiplash in an emergency, while the Ford Escape does not, as well as a Forward Collision Warning Plus system that brakes automatically in case of a potential collision.
